After consultations with the City of Yonkers and Westchester County officials, and as it became clear that a serious wind and rain event was forecast for this weekend, Sunday, Sept 27 in particular, we have made the decision to cancel this year’s Tour de Yonkers.  Furthermore, due to other events scheduled around the city, there was really no other option available in the short-term to hold the tour.  

​The loyalty of Tour de Yonkers participants who we see year after year made this a very tough decision. Many of you know that over the past 16 years, other than the covid-19 pandemic year, the Tour has taken place. And yes, we have ridden in the rain in the past, but never with rain AND wind gusts approaching 20 mph.  With weather conditions like this, we put your safety and the one of our volunteers above everything else.

We do want to make sure that every person who registered will receive their Tour de Yonkers cycling jersey that was part of this year’s registration. With that in mind, we will hold jerseys pick-up dates on the Saturdays of October 3rd and 10th, from 10am to 2pm at the Beczak Environmental Center, 35 Alexander Street, Yonkers.

Furthermore, all those who registered for the 2026 Tour de Yonkers will get an automatic $25 credit towards the 2027 Tour registration.  We hope you will consider joining us next year.
